The Assistant Controller is responsible for managing the accounting workflow, providing accounting direction and analytical support across assigned entities/ Hospital(s).
Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process involving coordination of work, posting entries and preparation of financial information for review by System Controller.
Assure financial data including accuracy and integrity of balance sheet, accruals, and financial results.
Provide oversight to banking relationships including reviewing bank fees and services, implementation of cash collections at the various point of collection sights, provide ongoing training and oversight to points of collections, and review monthly reconciliation of bank statements prepared by accounting staff.
Assist in the budget preparation process and financial forecast updates throughout year.
Prepare and review analysis of all major balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Develops, analyzes, and interprets statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
Coordinate internal and external audits, including but not limited to financial statement and benefit plan audits.
Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations; Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
Prepare and file various tax filings.
Champions innovation and seeks opportunities to enhance various accounting functions and make them more efficient.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
Support complex business structure in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Independent of supervision, provides day-to-day oversight of the System accounting team, often in coordination with the Health System Controller.
Performs complex accounting activities to record, analyze and monitor financial information.
Assist in the preparation and timely filing of the organization’s Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and annual 990 report.
Furnishes routine financial information to lenders in a timely manner as required by the covenants installed under agreements with same.
